Photographs from Norm Tucker
I took the photos on the left and right this spring (2005) at Beacon Hill Park, Victoria, B.C.. The left photo, a peaceful setting of human landscape, pond, trees with many overhanging branches, people walking across the bridge, and the two ducks, reflects a kind of serene balance not possible in an urban setting unless we build parks, or keep open spaces. Similarly, the photo on the right, the pond from a different angle, shows highrise condominiums fitting in and sharing with the man made natural setting of the park without taking over.
The centre photo was taken, also this spring, in my home town White Rock and reflects much of the same feeling as Beacon Hill park, although on a small scale.
